How the Composting Toilet Works

The principle is simple: The separator insert directs urine forward into the separate 5L urine canister. Solids fall into the solids container with a bag at the back. Because liquids and solids don't mix, significantly fewer odors are produced.

After a bowel movement, you add some hemp litter over the solids. This binds moisture and also helps reduce odors. This keeps usage on the go clean, simple, and pleasant.

No Chemicals, No Water, No Disposal Station

The BOXIO TOILET works completely without water and without chemical additives. This makes it a sustainable alternative to classic chemical toilets.

Disposal is uncomplicated: Urine can be emptied into a regular toilet. Solids are collected in a garbage bag and can be disposed of with household waste, provided local regulations allow it.

Low Odor Due to Separation and Hemp Litter

Odors primarily arise when urine and solids combine. The BOXIO TOILET prevents exactly this with its separator insert. Urine is collected separately, and solids remain dry in the container.

Hemp litter supports this effect because it binds moisture. According to the manufacturer, one bag of hemp litter is generally sufficient for about 10 to 15 large toilet uses.

Compact and Easy to Store

With approx. 40 cm length, 30 cm width, and 28 cm height, the BOXIO TOILET remains extremely compact. It weighs only approx. 2.8 kg. This means you can easily carry it, store it in your vehicle, or place it in the right spot at your camp.

Assembly and Use

According to the manufacturer, assembly takes approx. 5 minutes. Make sure all parts are correctly assembled and securely fastened before using the toilet.

Insert a suitable bag into the solids container, check the urine canister, and after a bowel movement, add some litter over the solids. This way, you use the composting toilet cleanly and with low odor.

Cleaning and Care

Empty the urine canister and solids container regularly. The solids container can be closed with a lid if necessary. For the urine canister, a closed lid or suitable accessories help reduce odors from the canister.

Mild agents such as low-concentration lye from baking soda or vinegar with water are suitable for cleaning. Surface disinfectants can also be used, provided material compatibility has been checked beforehand.

Important Notes

The BOXIO TOILET is not compatible with Tanos Systainers and the Sortimo shelving system. When installing, you should allow for approx. 5 mm buffer, as the Eurobox with lid is approx. 28 cm high.

A lower box is not possible, as all components are matched to the height of the BOXIO Eurobox. Please also always observe local disposal regulations.
