If a vehicle is stuck in mud, deep slush, a water hole, or sand, a kinetic recovery rope, known in English as a snatch strap, is usually the simplest and fastest recovery solution, provided a second vehicle is available and standing on firm ground. Application The kinetic recovery strap is attached to both vehicles using shackles. The distance between the two vehicles should be several meters shorter than the length of the recovery strap. This distance ensures that the towing vehicle can gain some speed before the kinetic recovery strap is fully taut and then continues to stretch. This gently pulls the vehicle to be recovered before the kinetic energy of the towing vehicle is used to pull out the stuck vehicle. Tip: The shackle pins should remain open by approx. 1/4 turn to allow easy opening after the recovery process. Otherwise, they could jam if deformed and only be opened with a tool.
