Ferrari Purosangue (2023 - ) Aluminum Wheel Force Light (forged) Matte Black
The aluminum wheel Force Light is a brand-new product from the delta4x4 off-road forge. The 20" Beadlock rim is a two-piece design and manufactured using a forging process. The rims are designed so that tires can be mounted with or without a beadlock ring. You can thus flexibly decide on the beadlock function.
What's behind Beadlock technology?
This is a mechanical device that firmly connects the tire to the rim: In a wheel of standard construction, the tire is pressed against the rim flange by the inflation pressure and thus secured. If the air pressure drops, the tire loses its grip and can consequently slip completely off the rim. This happens, for example, with a puncture in the tire or when the inflation pressure has been intentionally reduced for off-road use to build up more traction on sand, snow, or mud due to the increased flexing. To prevent this dangerous situation for the vehicle and driver, the tire with delta4x4's Beadlock technology is pressed onto the rim flange with a beadlock ring during mounting. This keeps the tire firmly connected to the rim – whether with or without air.
Even with extremely strong acceleration or braking, the friction forces between the rim and tire may not be sufficient, so that both components can twist against each other without a beadlock. This is also prevented by the Beadlock system, which mechanically fixes (or "locks") the tire. The word "bead," on the other hand, translates to "rim seat." Thus, Beadlock stands for "a tire that is mechanically fixed in the rim seat."
Where are Beadlock rims used?
Basically, this technology comes from the military sector, where care is taken to ensure that operational vehicles remain functional even after a complete loss of tire pressure. The armed forces demand that their vehicles can temporarily drive at a speed of 80 km/h for up to 100 kilometers. This is made possible by Beadlock technology with a beadlock ring and a run-flat element.
In the meantime, Beadlock rims are increasingly used in the civilian sector – for example, in armored vehicles and increasingly in expedition vehicles and long-distance rallies. Here, the advantage is that the inflation pressure in the tires can be reduced to a minimum without the tire jumping off the rim. The achievable grip is a significant decision criterion for the Beadlock system.
