Mercedes G-Class Alloy Wheel Force Forged (Forged) Matte Black
The Force20 beadlock rim has a two-piece construction and is offered either as a delta Force20 Monoblock Casted using a low-pressure casting process or as a forged wheel delta Force20 Forged.
The essential difference between the two models lies in the strength for which they are designed: The forged beadlock rim is tested for a wheel load of 2,500 kg, while the Beadlock Casted is manufactured for a load capacity of 1,800 kg. Both rims are designed so that tires can be mounted with or without a beadlock ring.
What's behind beadlock technology?
This is a mechanical device that firmly connects the tire to the rim: In a wheel with the usual standard design, the tire is pressed onto the rim flange by the inflation pressure and thus fixed. If the air pressure drops, the tire loses its grip and can then completely slide off the rim. This happens, for example, if the tire has a puncture or if the inflation pressure was intentionally reduced for off-road use to build up more traction on sand, snow or mud through the now increased deflection. To prevent this dangerous situation for the vehicle and driver, the tire is pressed onto the rim horn with a beadlock ring using delta4x4's beadlock technology during assembly. This means the tire is always firmly connected to the rim – regardless of whether it has air or not.
Even during extremely strong acceleration or braking, the friction forces between the rim and tire may not be sufficient, so that both components can twist against each other. This is also prevented by the beadlock system, which mechanically fixes (or "locks" in English) the tire. The word "bead," on the other hand, means "rim seat." Thus, beadlock stands for "a tire that is mechanically fixed in the rim seat."
Where are beadlock rims used?
Basically, this technology comes from the military, where care is taken to ensure that operational vehicles remain operational even after a complete loss of tire pressure. The armed forces require their vehicles to be able to drive at a speed of 80 km/h for up to 100 kilometers for a short time. This is made possible by beadlock technology with a beadlock ring and a run-flat element.
Meanwhile, beadlock rims are increasingly used in the civilian sector – for example, in armored vehicles and increasingly also in expedition vehicles and long-distance rallies. Here, the advantage is that the inflation pressure in the tires can be reduced to a minimum without the tire coming off the rim.
